How to make a fabric pinboard?

Over the past few months, Pinterest has become my favorite social media platform. I am constantly pinning and looking at inspiration, but sometimes there is no substitute for a physical pin boarded, so I decided to create my own. Creating this DIY fabric pinboard was SO easy. The hardest part was selecting the fabric at JoAnns. Below I have listed the exact steps you can take to create your own.

What you will need:

  • Corkboard

  • Linen (about one yard)

  • Staple Gun (truth be told I didn't have a staple gun, so I used a regular stapler and mine still turned out)

Instructions:

Step 1

Lay out your fabric on your work surface and place your corkboard on top face down

Step 2

Pull the fabric tight over one side and place one staple along that side. Do the same thing on each side making sure to pull the fabric as tight as possible.

Step 3

After your fabric is secured using your staple gun or stapler to staple along each side.

Step 4

Trim any excess fabric and mount on the wall

Step 5

Now you are ready to fill up your board with whatever inspires you!

What is a pinboard made of?

Pinboards are typically made of corkboard. The one I taught you how to make above is made from a simple corkboard from Joanns, which is wrapped in linen fabric. You can also make a pinboard out of a white board. If you decide to go this route you can use magnets to hang up your inspiration and write notes next to the inspiration on the white board. Another type of pin board I have seen is a fabric covered foam. This is a great option if you don't want to use a cork board.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY fabric pinboard! If you are look for some more DIY projects check out these DIY posts.
