This post is a collaboration with Bed Bath & Beyond. I received compensation, but as always all opinions are my own. All photos were taken by Hannah Q Photography.
The end of 2018 fell a little bit out of control. I blame most of this on my home being  unorganized. When things in my house are all over the place and unorderly I feel like my life is not on track. Obviously, I know that this is a bit of an exaggeration. Things could obviously be way worse, but still, I always feel off when things are messy. My kitchen, for example, felt like complete chaos. We received many sweet gifts from family and friends for our wedding, but I had not taken the time to go through and find a place for everything. That's why I was so excited when Bed Bath & Beyond reached out to collaborate on a kitchen organization project. It was the perfect time to get my kitchen organized.
Step #1: Take EVERYTHING out
Take everything out, put it on the counter and start putting things into groups. This is helpful to see if you have duplicates of any items or items that you no longer have any use for. If you do have duplicates of any items, figure out which one you would like to keep and then donate the other.
Step #2: Decide where to store your items
Now that you have grouped your items it's time to find a home for them. One of the most important things to think about when organizing your space is storing your most frequently accessed items within reach. This was a game changer in my kitchen because I had previously stored all our my pantry items in a lazy susan cabinet that was difficult to access and I found objects falling off the lazy susan whenever I turned it. I decided that this cabinet would be much better for pots, pans, and small kitchen appliances. This freed up three of drawers that I chose to use as my pantry. These drawers are also located next to the refrigerator, so when I am making my weekly grocery list, I can stand in one place and quickly see what items I need to purchase.
Step #3: Measure
This is the most important step. Measure each cabinet and write down its dimensions. When you head to Bed Bath & Beyond to buy containers and bins for each drawer or cabinet, you will want to make sure that you know what will fit in your space.
Step #4: Head home and start putting things into place!
Since you have done the heavy lifting before purchasing your organization bins and containers putting your items into their new home should be a breeze. I even found that since I went through all of my kitchen items and organized them neatly, I had a few empty drawers when I was finished!
Pro tips:
If your drawers/cabinets are not packed to the brim that is a good thing! Make sure that you take stock of every item that you have and that you actually use it. If you have items that you haven't used in years or that you will never use in the future donate them.
Make sure you purchase clear storage containers, so you can easily see what you have left of each item when you are taking inventory.
This is also a great time to take inventory of your spices. Depending on what type of seasoning (ground, whole, seeds, etc.) they can typically last between 1-4 years.
I linked all of the products I used below, so you can shop them.

I hope that these steps help you get organized in 2019! I know that it has been a game changer for me. When everything in my life is clean and organized I feel like I can conquer the world.
